The Villanova School of Business has held many different professional development information sessions and meetings in order to help students acquire more knowledge about all different career paths. On September 25th from 6-8PM, the Villanova School of Business decided to invite Johnson & Johnson for a Professional Development Event that was held in the Curley Exchange in Bartley Hall.
Johnson and Johnson, a well-recognized American multinational medical device,pharmaceutical and consumer packaged goods manufacturing company, had an information session and networking event that dealt out a lot of information. Upon entering the event, everyone was handed a checklist of different activities to complete, which included an informative fact or fiction game and a one-on-one discussion with a J&J representative which I found to be the most informative. One thing that mostly appealed to me was that there were many opportunities for students (Link to J&J Opportunities for Students Website) to work in the company and develop their career.
Unlike most Professional Development Events, there was no official speaker or presentation,but the event was very laid back which was a refreshing change from other events. However, even though it was a lax environment, the attire was recommended to be business casual. The focal point that Johnson & Johnson wanted to highlight to the attendees was the aspect of their philanthropic and collaborative atmosphere of working at the company.
I truly loved the event and the part that I enjoyed the most was the opportunity to network with representatives from such a highly-regarded business. After learning a great deal about what it is like to work at Johnson & Johnson, I would certainly look at them as a possible future employer. Also, I found it very intriguing how Johnson & Johnson has all different opportunities for many different careers in any part of the business field. Also, it was a pretty thrilling feeling to be able to learn more about Johnson & Johnson, a company that produces so many products I have used from my childhood such as my first shampoo all the way up to products I still use this day. This Professional Development Event I found to be the very useful and has inspired me to seek more opportunities with Johnson and Johnson, such as internships and Co-Ops.
Personally,all the events held by the Villanova School of Business are very useful and help students discover careers they would have never known about without these information sessions. Besides learning about the company and possible career paths, these events create the possibility for students to connect with many companies and learn about different types of internships.
